On August 16th, in the course of proceedings before the District Court in Warsaw regarding the protection of personal rights in lawsuits brought by companies belonging to the MGGP Group and Mr. Grad, an out-of-court settlement was reached with the publisher of the "Gazeta Polska" weekly and the gazetapolska.pl portal, the editor-in-chief of the aforementioned titles, and the author of the publications. The proceedings were related to a series of unfounded and unauthorized pieces of information about the companies of the MGGP Group circulated in the summer of 2022.
As a result of the settlement, on August 21st, statements expressing regret over a series of articles tarnishing the good name of MGGP appeared on the homepage of the gazetapolska.pl portal.
– Independent Polish Publishing Company Ltd., the publisher of the "Gazeta Polska" weekly and the gazetapolska.pl portal
– Tomasz Sakiewicz, the editor-in-chief of the "Gazeta Polska" weekly and the gazetapolska.pl portal
– Piotr Nisztór, the author of the publications dated July 13th and July 20th, 2022.
The same statements were also published on the gazetapolska.pl portal, along with the content of the articles from July 13th and July 20th, 2022, directly under their titles.
For many years, companies within the MGGP Group have been facing various unfounded attacks and defamation from various entities, spreading false information often as part of unfair competition and political battles. These attacks frequently contain unauthorized information and slander that have nothing to do with the actual facts and are detrimental to the interests of the companies.
We do not tolerate the dissemination of false information, thereby misleading the public, nor do we accept the use of the MGGP brand in a dirty political campaign. Any such actions are met with our firm opposition and the pursuit of our rights through legal means.
In this case, unverified procedural information regarding companies belonging to the MGGP Group and Mr. Grad was published in Gazeta Polska, which was unauthorized and unjustified.
