On January 7th, at the Podłęże railway station (Małopolskie voivodeship), the Consortium consisting of MGGP S.A., Egis Rail S.A., and Egis Poland Sp. z o.o., signed a contract with PKP PLK S.A. for the preparation of project documentation, documentation necessary for land acquisition, tender documentation, as well as author's supervision within the investment task entitled "Construction of a new railway line Podłęże - Szczyrzyc - Tymbark / Mszana Dolna and modernization of the existing railway line No. 104 Chabówka - Nowy Sącz - Stage I: preparatory works."
The signing ceremony was attended by numerous representatives of the government and local government, including Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimski, Voivode of Małopolskie Piotr Ćwik, Marshal of the Małopolskie Voivodeship Witold Kozłowski, Vice-Marshal of the Małopolskie Voivodeship Łukasz Smółka, representatives of the Investor, and the Consortium executing the contract.
The Minister of Infrastructure emphasized that "the newly designed line will be the longest new railway line in Poland for several decades", while the President of PLK, Ireneusz Merchel, said that "the contract concluded today for the development of design documentation is the largest in the history of Polish railways in terms of scope."
The new route will require the construction of 58.47 km of railway lines, 11 tunnels, 8 viaducts, 20 bridges, and over 30 overpasses. Additionally, the modernization of the existing line No. 104 on the Tymbark - Nowy Sącz section will cover 74.5 km of railway lines, as well as the construction/reconstruction of numerous engineering structures.
This investment will bring benefits to Poland by improving connections between the southern regions of Małopolskie, enhancing passenger comfort and travel time, and positively impacting international transport between southern and northern Europe along the Baltic-Balkans-Black Sea axis. Additionally, it will alleviate the heavily utilized freight lines in the Upper Silesia region.
The project titled "Construction of the new railway line Podłęże – Szczyrzyc – Tymbark / Mszana Dolna and modernization of the existing railway line No. 104 Chabówka – Nowy Sącz – Stage I: preparatory works" is being carried out from 2018 to 2021. Stages II and III will be implemented respectively from 2020-2024 and 2020-2027.
We embark on the implementation of this new large-scale railway project with the sense that it is a project worthy of MGGP S.A.'s ambitions and its team.
