On February 7, 2019, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy of the Republic of Macedonia in Skopje, there was a ceremonial completion of the project carried out by MGGP S.A. The project was titled "Development of orthophoto maps and vectorization of agricultural land use fields, implementation of Farm Register and Farm Accountancy Data Network software, and LPIS software upgrade." The beneficiary of the project is the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy of the Republic of Macedonia.
At the closing meeting of the project, among others, Ljupco Nikolovski, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy of the Republic of Macedonia, Wojciech Tyciński, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Macedonia, representatives from the beneficiary side of the project, and representatives from MGGP S.A. were present.
Minister Ljupco Nikolovski emphasized that as a result of the project, the Ministry received reliable and accurate data about farmers, including information about their land holdings and livestock, as well as agricultural areas in the country. He also highlighted that data on agricultural land and declared agricultural plots were obtained based on orthophoto maps, in accordance with European regulations. According to the Minister's assessment, the data resulting from the project can be utilized by other institutions, providing an effective mechanism for implementing financial support programs in agriculture and rural development.
During the meeting, the project team from MGGP S.A. presented the main results of the project divided into two components: photogrammetric and IT-related. The company simultaneously carried out work related to the development of a digital terrain model, orthophoto maps, vectorization of agricultural areas for the entire country, updating the layer of declared agricultural parcels, and tasks related to the analysis of functionality, development, and implementation of IT systems: FR (Farm Register), FADN (Farm Accountancy Data Network), as well as coordinating the upgrade of the LPIS system.
The project was implemented for 26,000 km2, covering the entire territory of the Republic of Macedonia. The project implementation started in October 2016, following the signing of the agreement with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Macedonia.
MGGP S.A., as a Polish company, feels immense satisfaction in participating in such an important project for the Republic of Macedonia on its path towards integration with the European Union. Our experience in implementing projects related to Poland's accession process to the EU was important and helpful in carrying out this project.
